My name is Angela Alert. I live at Kwakwani Waterfront,
Berbice River. Presently I am attending the Cyril Potter College of
Education, Linden Branch, where I am preparing for my final year Exams.
I have been enjoying my stay in Linden where I have been seconded to
the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School. I enjoy teaching the students
of CWSS, especially form 1 London. |
David Archibald

Hi! My name is David Archibald. I live at Block 22 Wisrock Squatting
Area. I am presently employed with the Ministry of Education as an
Industrial Arts teacher at the Wismar Christianburg Secondary School.
I teach Electricity/ Electronics, Woods and Electrical technology at
the levels 9,10 and 11.
My ambition is to elevate myself in the Education System. I will
like to become a trained Mathematics teacher at the Cyril Potter Collage
of Education, after which I hope to attend the University of Guyana to
achieve a degree in Education, and then make useful changes in the
Education system after I become a Headmaster.

Ingrid Barnes

The picture on the left is that of Ms.Ingrid Barnes. She
has been in the teaching profession for over thirty years. She has taught
in some of the primary and secondary schools in Linden. Her teaching
career started in 1967 after writing the General Certificate of Education
examination, while attending the Mackenzie High School. So far she has
been instrumental in moulding some of the Nation’s children by teaching
at the St.Aidan’s Anglican, One Mile Primary, Kwakwani Community High,
New Silvercity Secondary and the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School.
Presently her status at the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School is
Senior Mistress. She has been holding this position for twelve years.

Candy Bellamy

Hi, I’m Candy Bellamy - a teacher of Integrated Science and
Chemistry attached to Wismar Christianburg Secondary School.
I’ve been in the teaching profession for nine years and presently
am pursuing a trained teacher’s certificate in Secondary Science here in
Linden.
Over the nine year period, I've taught Mathematics at levels 7, 9,10
& 11; Chemistry at level 9; Physics at level 9; and Integrated Science
at levels 7, 9, 10 & 11.
It’s my aspiration to become a
graduate in Physics/Chemistry or
Physics/Computer in the near future.
I’m the mother of four wonderful
girls, ages ranging from 6 years old
to 5 months old, and I thank
God for the blessed privilege of
being a mother and wife.

Althea Briggs

Hi my name is Althea Briggs. I am 21 yrs old and was born under the
sign Virgo. I love meeting intelligent persons.
At present I am an acting teacher at the Christianburg Wismar
Secondary School and I am mainly based in the Allied Arts Department.
The name of my H.O.D is Ms Verna Porter. My dept. consist of five
members.
The subject I teach is Dancing. I teach in the forms four and two. I
love it because there is where my skills lie. Along with that I would like
to be a trained Dance teacher with the knowledge of all kinds of dances so
that when ever my time comes to show my skill I would produce quality
dance of all levels.

Roy Cadogan

My name is Roy Cadogan I live at 52, Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden.
I am a teacher of metals and technical drawing at the Wismar Christianburg
Secondary School which I enjoy doing very much.
I am presently teaching forms 2, 3 and 4 and find it very
invigorating. Personally I feel that this part of our school’s
prospectus is very imperative to our children’s outlook. My subject area
is all about educating children with experiences with tools, equipment,
materials proesses and occupations for those who are desirous of obtaining
a foundation for vocational development. |

Kim Coppin

My name is Kim Coppin. I live with my parents in Guyana.
I am presently attached to the CHRISTIANBURG WISMAR SECONDARY SCHOOL
and have been for the past five years.
I am a teacher of CARIBBEAN HISTORY, this of which I enjoy very
much. Other than this subject, I have a knowledge of other subject areas
such as GEOGRAPHY, MATHS, SCIENCE, HOME ECONOMICS, PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS
just to name a few.
Presently I teach forms 1 and 2. I really find it refreshing to
teach this subject area of my school’s curriculum. Personally I feel
that this area of our school’s curriculum is indeed an important aspect
of our children’s lives.
My subject area is all about educating the children about the past
and developing an interest, love and appreciation for each other. |

I attended the Mackenzie High School but at present I am a science
teacher at Christianburg Wismar Secondary School.
I am a twenty one year old male who was born under the sign of
Sagittarius. At present I am thinking of furthering my studies by writing
some CXC subjects in 2002 - including maths, English, biology, physics, IT
and chemistry.

Melanie Hale

Hi, I am Melanie Hale an industrious Accounts and
Business teacher attached at the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School. I
teach levels 9 and 10. My department comprise of Miss Althea Abrams (H.O.D)
Mr. Sean Zephyr, Mr. Joel MacIntyre and, yours truly, Melanie Hale.
My hobbies are reading and watching geographic. Apart of being
industrious, I am a CHRISTIAN and Aesthetic.
Being a teacher you can impart knowledge and also learn.
One advantage of such is that you can develop your communication

Sharon Hall

My name is Sharon Alison Hall. I am a teacher of the Christianburg
Wismar Secondary School. I am presently teaching English Language
and Literature in form 2 Allicock, Corlette, Dean and 3 Rutherford and
London. I am also a student of the Cyril Potter College of Education,
Linden Centre. I am doing the secondary training and I am in the final
year preparing to write examination in May and June 2000.
My hobbies are reading, watching television, playing indoor and
outdoor games and track and field sports. I also enjoy serving the
ALMIGHTY GOD and going to church. My favourite authors are Sydney Sheldon,
John Grisham, Clive Cussler, Danielle Steele and William Shakespeare. Most
of all, my favourite gospel singer is Ron Kenoly, but I like other singers
like Kirk Franklin, Cece Winans and Bebe Winans.
My favourite foods are fried rice, baked chicken and macaroni with
cheese. In addition I like to eat very much but do not want to get fat. I
like to exercise very much in order to keep fit. I believe that good
exercise is needed if one is to remain slim and trim. Moreover one needs
to adopt good eating habits by using foods from all the food groups.
My future ambition is to become a Business Manageress. To fulfill
this dream I intend to further my studies at the University of Guyana in
the near future. |
Winston Hercules

I am Winston Hercules, H. O. D. Agriculture Science of
the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School.
I have been working at this school from February 1988 when I began
teaching Agriculture Science for the first time. It was the Form 5 GCE
Agriculture Science students who I had to continue the program with for
their examination in June of that year.
Though it was challenging I was determined and I sought assistance
from Ms B Allicock. All of those students were successful. |
Keisha Luke

Hi, my name is Ms. Keisha Luke. At present I am a
Mathematics teacher at the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School. I also
attend C.P.C.E Linden centre and is presently concluding my final year. My
main goal in life is to have a degree in economics, marry and serve my
Lord faithfully.
My school environment comprises of nine different departments. I am
a valuable asset of the Mathematics Department that is made up of six
members, including the H.O.D (Mrs. Corina McBean). |
Monique Matthews

My name is Monique Descia Matthews. I am a female
teacher of the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School. I am twenty years
old and I am presently pursuing a Teacher’s Certificate in Secondary
Education. I have been teaching for the past three years and I’m
enjoying it. I began my career on the 7th April, 1997. I was placed in the
English Department and have since been teaching levels sevens and eight. I
teach English Language and English Literature. However I do not teach
Literature on a regular basis like Language. That is because there is not
a regular Literature programme going on at my school due to a lack of
staff to teach the subject. |
Leroy Peters

Hi my name is LEROY PETERS and I am a TEMPORARY
QUALIFIED MASTER at the CHRISTIANBURG WISMAR SECONDARY SCHOOL.
My career as a teacher began on the 4th October 1999 when I started
as an acting teacher and then was promoted to T.Q.M.
I am an INDUSTRIAL ARTS teacher and a subject teacher of WOODS,
TECHNICAL DRAWING and ELECTRICITY / ELECTRONICS. I teach Form Two Woods,
Form Three Technical Drawing and Form Four Electricity/Electronics.
I love teaching but hate writing the weekly journal.
My goal is to become an ARCHITECT. |
June Prince

My name is June Vanetta Prince. I am a teacher attached to the
Christianburg Wismar Secondary School, where I teach Agricultural Science
to students of levels 9, 10 and 11.
I joined the staff of this school in 1998. In the past I have also
Taught Mathematics at level 9 at the Richard Ishmael Secondary,
Georgetown.
Some of the Schools I have attended include, Bushlot Secondary, East
Ruimveldt Secondary, Guyana School of Agriculture, University of Guyana,
and University of Greenwich, UK.
My hobbies include reading, corresponding, crocheting and most
sporting activities.
Authors that I enjoy reading include: Wilbur Smith, John LeCarre,
Sydney Sheldon, Robert Ludlum. I totally dislike reading Stephen King.
My ambition is to become a School Administrator and I would also
like to work with students that are “some- what” challenged. |
Carmelita Roberts

My name is Carmelita Roberts. I am a teacher of mathematics at
Christianburg Wismar Secondary School, which is situated on Blue Berry
Hill.
The school’s curriculum caters for a wide cross-section of student
interests since there are nine departments and every subject taught
is offered at the Caribbean Examination Council. The staff consists of
approximately sixty teachers and in excess of eight hundred students.
The extra curricular activites include sports and prize giving
exercises as well as rallies. |
Carlyn Smith

My name is Carlyn Smith. I was appointed to the Christianburg Wismar
Secondary School in August 1991 as an assistant mistress.
I began acting as Head Of The Social Studies Department in October
1993. In September 1996, I was appointed as Head Of Department
substantively.
At present, my department has seven teachers. They are: Marcia
Barclay, Nigel Williamson, Lana Moseley, Natasha Park, Kim Coppin, Elsa
Jones, Angela Alert and Clair Richards.
I enjoy teaching Caribbean History in the upper forms and Social
Studies in the lower forms. I began preparing students for CXC History in
1993. The first group of students wrote exams in June 1994. Presently, I
have prepared fourteen students for CXC History exams 2000.
In the quest for improving my academic qualifications, I began
university in September 1998. I am majoring in Education Administration
and I have successfully completed two years of my training . |
